In the fall of 2012, I was part of a group of visual and performance artists, writers, and composers who traveled to Svalbard, a remote archipelago halfway between mainland Norway and the North Pole. As participants in the Arctic Circle Residency, we lived and traveled on board the ice-class sailing vessel Antigua, conveyed to polar bear-populated wildernesses, ghosted mining towns, and icebound scientific communities. This series of miniature paintings depicts us in our efforts to collect data and create work in response to the land, ice, and sea.<\/p>\n\n\n
