HOMING

In Homing, an installation at the historic Albuquerque Railyards, I utilized techniques of Victorian hairwork, a tradition both movingly sentimental and viscerally unsettling. I asked for donations of hair, then used the hair to evoke forms of habitation that are symbolic of both fragility and resourcefulness: birds’ nests. The work is a tribute to embracing the ephemeral within the environments we shape for ourselves, and within the bounds of our own mortality.
