In October of 2013, I was invited to Idaho by the Sun Valley Center for the Arts to create a project about tourism and the American road trip, specifically as they relate to Sun Valley. After a period spent visiting local cultural institutions and sites around Ketchum, Sun Valley, and Hailey, I made twelve paintings showcasing some of the more unusual juxtapositions I encountered as a tourist. In the exhibition for which they were commissioned, Wish You Were Here, the paintings were shown alongside vintage postcards, whose size and shape they were meant to emulate.
